The West Virginia Lymphedema Network (WVLN)
is a volunteer organization based in Morgantown, WV. The support group meets quarterly on the
first Tuesday of February, May, August, and November.
Lymphedema is a chronic condition where
body tissue swells (usually an arm or leg), due to lymph node removal
or damage. Left untreated, the area will swell, infection can occur and
wounds may have difficulty healing. It is common among post-mastectomy
patients and other cancer survivors who have had lymph nodes removed or
radiation therapy. This includes persons previously treated for breast,
gynecological, melanoma, prostate or kidney cancer.
WVLN is the first and only volunteer lymphedema support group in West Virginia. The mission of the WVLN is to network, educate, and increase awareness of lymphedema treatment among patients and medical professionals in the state. Our vision is quality medical care for every West Virginia lymphedema patient. Together we can make a difference.
