IRCT member centre to hold conference on situation of torture survivors in Europe
On 28 and 29 October Paris-based IRCT member centre Parcourd'Exil is hosting the conference "Torture Victims: Which Recognition(s) in Europe?" Among the speakers are IRCT Secretary-General Brita Sydhoff as well as several representatives from IRCT member centres in Europe. Read more

Grave concern for threats to Honduran centre
The IRCT expresses alarm that its member centre in Honduras, the Centre of Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation for Victims of Torture and their Families (CPTRT), is under police surveillance and being subjected to threats by the Honduran Preventive Police Force. Read more
APA passes anti-torture resolution
The American Psychological Association (APA) announced on Wednesday, 17 September that its members have voted in favour of a resolution that will ban psychologists from participating in interrogations that occur in settings violating international human rights law. Read more
Stop raids on IDPs in Darfur
On 25 August, Sudanese security forces raided a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kalma, South Darfur, leaving many civilians dead and wounded. The IRCT joins our member centre in Sudan, the Amel Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation for Victims of Torture, in condemning this act and in calling for immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the violence. IRCT becomes member of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE)
The membership will help the IRCT to promote the right of asylum seekers and refugees who have been subjected to torture to receive appropriate rehabilitation care. Read more
IRCT in support mission to aid member centres in Georgia
In the aftermath of Russia's invasion into parts of Georgia on 8 August the IRCT's two Georgian member centres - EMPATHY and the Georgian Center for Psychosocial and Medical Rehabilitation of Torture Victims – are receiving and treating large numbers of tortured and traumatised internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have fled the hostilities to the relative security of the country's capital, Tbilisi.
