What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis means that your bones become thin, fragile and therefore break easily. Bone loss can begin slowly from age 35, however osteoporosis can be prevented and treated and need not be a consequence of ageing.

You Need To Have a Bone Density Test Because ...
The key to preventing osteoporosis is to find out how strong or weak your bones are before they break. Because you can t see or feel your bones getting thin and fragile the only way to check your bones is by having a bone density test. How is the Bone Density Test conducted?
The Bone Density Test is conducted by ultrasound technique at the heel of one foot. The test takes 15 minutes and the results along with a 40 page information booklet is given to you. The cost per consultation is $45.

Women, Menopause and Osteoporosis
Women can lose bone density rapidly after the onset of menopause. By having a Bone Density Test pre menopause you can establish a "bench mark" so that you can act quickly if you find your bone density decreasing after you begin menopause.
